Tallow is beef fat that has been slowly rendered into a shelf-stable fat that is solid at room temperature. People use it for cooking, skincare, soap, candles and cast-iron seasoning.

Does tallow clog pores?

It can for some people. Tallow is a rich, occlusive fat, so people with oily or acne-prone skin may find it too heavy. Patch test first and use a small amount.

How should I store tallow, and how long does it last?

Store tallow in a cool, dark place at 70°F or below in a tightly closed glass container. Refrigeration can extend shelf life to 1-2 years. Keep water out of the jar.
