I recently got the worst skin rash on my face after trying a new natural skincare product I bought online. I was overconfident about using it since it had more than 5K positive reviews. So, instead of doing a patch test first, I applied it all over my face, and the next day my face was all red and full of pimples. I tried to use my regular tallow moisturizer, but it only made things worse. I was devastated and didn't know what to do. After 2 days of grief, I decided to take action and fix it.
First, I decided to use aloe vera as the base of my healing balm for its antimicrobial and antiinflammatory and skin-healing properties. Then I looked in my apothecary for all the antimicrobial and antibacterial herbs I have, and the selection was huge. I also looked into my herbal supplements, and the bottle of NeemPlus caught my attention. This is a supplement I have used in the past to heal severe gut issues, and as a side effect, it has helped to clean my skin. This is how my skin healing gel was born (recipe below).
I also realized that my face couldn't tolerate tallow or any thick creams, so I decided to stop using it for a while and try something else. I found a very light and inexpensive lotion at my local health store called Ceramidx Facial Lotion (I am pretty sure that any hypoallergenic light lotion will do the work) that felt great, but I still needed some extra moisturization because my skin tends to be dry, so I came back to my old recipe of my oil serum to use at night. After 4 weeks of this simple skincare regime, my skin is better than ever. It looks super clean and bright, and I was able to start using tallow again every other day to add extra moisturization with no reaction.
Skin healing gel
Mix 1 capsule of NeemPlus in 2 ounces of Aloe Vera gel. Keep it in the refrigerator and apply multiple times a day.
Skin healing routine
- Apply the skin healing gel 2-4 times a day.
- Clean your face at night using tallow fat or 100% tallow cream, and remove with a wet cotton pad.
- For the first 3 weeks, avoid using tallow products to moisturize your skin. Instead, use a light lotion for sensitive skin.
- If your skin tends to be dry, add a moisturizing facial serum at night.
- Gradually reintroduce your favorite tallow moisturizers, but keep the regimen of rotating products every so often.
